BORIS OTAROV

Boris Otarov is a well-known Moscow non-conformist artist of Armenian origin.

He did not immediately come to painting art. A physicist with a university education, Otarov found himself in painting as an adult: in the 1950s, he began to regularly engage in various art studios.

Boris Otarov belongs to the generation of artists of the sixties. The beginning of his creative work fell on the times of the “Khrushchev thaw”, and in the 60s and 70s the artist joined the circle of Moscow “unofficial” painting. 

Otarov worked in an abstract manner, his technique is inherent emotional intensity. This is a master with a pronounced personality, manifesting himself as a romantic, then as an artist-rebel.
