SASHA SEMENOV

Sasha Semenov (1938) is a Russian painter. He studied at Moscow Printing University, Art Department. Sasha Semenov was exposed to the dramatic experience of unofficial Soviet art in the 1970s and the 1980s. His artistic career was immediately associated with the semi-legal entity that attracted alternative artists at the exhibition hall of the United Moscow Committee of the Graphic Artists' Trade Union on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street. Sasha Semenov works are bright and even decorative, the plots evoke allusions to fables conveyed through colour and elaborate details, as well as with words and phrases sometimes “interwoven” into the image. Since he began exhibiting in 1970, his works have been part of many private collections throughout Europe and America.
